What a Gem! Neighborhood Park and RIHEL Alumna
On October 29, 2015, the the historic Denver Mestizo-Curtis Park was honored as a Neighborhood Gem at the 2015 Mayor’s Design Award ceremony. The effort to redevelop and revitalize this park can be credited in large part to the leadereship of Geraldolyn Horton-Harris (ALTP 2014 & LHCD 2015).
In addition to this most recent award, Geraldolyn has received multiple recognitions in connection with her work on the park, including personal acknowledgements from both a Denver Council Member and the Mayor, and a surprise award from the Black Arts Council during an official playground opening ribbon cutting in July of 2015.
The Mestizo-Curtis Park project was also selected as a City Parks Alliance 2015 Frontline Park, and has been highlighted by the Trust for Public Land. An OpEd piece by Dottie Lamm provides an excellent tribute to Geraldolyn’s collaborative and inclusive leadership style. Well done!
